Description

The Discovery of Black and White Film Development workshop is a photo workshop allowing participants to discover the first darkroom step after shooting: film development.

This workshop is composed of a group of 3 to 5 students supervised by a Photo Professor who will accompany beginners or those already familiar with analog photography who want to discover and master manual development in order to reproduce it at home and become more independent in their analog photography practice.

This day is dedicated to 35mm black and white format. If you wish to do the workshop with 120 film, it is possible, you just need to inform us in advance.

- Starts at 09:00 AM: The group joins our lab shop at 13, rue de la Bombarde 69005. The workshop begins with a theoretical overview of different film types and the methodology to determine their development times. We then discover the various accessories and chemicals: tanks, chemicals, thermometers, changing bag, drying cabinet, ... Once the different elements are understood, the practical part can begin with a dry run of loading the film onto the reel to teach students this crucial step. Then, the actual development can start. Each student has their individual Paterson tank, which will allow them to be in the same conditions as when they return home. Once the development is complete, the films are put to dry, and a review is done to clarify any misunderstood elements and correct errors. Once the films are dry, their analysis can begin, and the impact of the development carried out can be understood.

The day ends around 1:00 PM, having discovered the development of a Black and White analog film. You will leave with your negative in a sheet. We provide chemicals, accessories, and equipment. You will need to bring a classic 24 or 36 exposure black and white film (Ilford, Kodak, Fomapan, Rollei) that has already been exposed and is ready to be developed. Be sure of the film you bring because a successful development on a failed, fogged, or poorly exposed film will inevitably be a failure.

The price is individual and includes all taxes. If you wish to come on the same day with another person (or more), you can order the desired number of spots and then provide us with the names of the participants. We can also host entire groups for companies, bachelorette parties, bachelor parties, birthdays, events... For these private workshops, a date will be booked in advance according to availability by contacting us via email: info@ateliers-marinette.fr
