Marinette Vintage Film M101 50 35mm

Marinette is now offering her own "Marinette Film" line. These are either expired films purchased in large 35mm bulk rolls and respooled, or new and specific films respooled to allow you to shoot different films than what we already offer as new films.

"Marinette Vintage Film" are made from sourced base films, and the stock is limited to a few dozen or hundred rolls. We test them and advise you on their use in store or via our eShop.

The Marinette M101 film is an Orwo base sourced from an old stock from Eastern European countries. The base film is expired Orwo NP55 film from 1990.

You will find example photos of the film taken by us. Some examples were developed using classic Black and White Lab development (to show you what effects you could achieve if you don't develop it yourself) and others using Stand Dev Adonal 1+100 - 1 hour - 1 inversion.

Its expiration in 1990 has several impacts on the film:

- Fogging has occurred over the years, so the roll exhibits a banding effect similar to light leaks, which is quite common for this type of film after 30 years of expiration. This effect can be seen in our examples where we left scans of unexposed film, clearly showing this degraded fogging that gives this film its unique frame.

- The film's sensitivity, like all silver halide film, has decreased. Its nominal ISO was 80 ISO; we recommend 50 ISO, or 25 ISO to compensate for its age.

- The grain is more present due to its expiration; it's a magnificent grain typical of Orwo films from that era and even more exaggerated by the expiration. We have provided an example photo where the grain is detailed as best as possible to appreciate its appearance.

This 24-exposure film is respooled into recycled 35mm cartridges, so it does not have DX coding (Caution for users of compacts or more modern SLRs).

This stock is old and therefore limited.
